CLEANING, COOKING, AND CONFUSION FOR DESSERT!

What a day! All week I have been working towards a little 'fall' cleaning. Maybe I shouldn't even call it that, since most people probably regularly mop their floors, but I don't. I just sweep and spot wash. But not this week! I have been dusting, mopping, tidying, and laundering everything I could think of!! Today was my big day of it because not only was my husband home to deal with the kids, but we had guests coming over for dinner...or so I thought!
I had talked with a friend of mine on Wednesday, but she needed to talk with her husband before confirming anything for the weekend. We have been trying to do dinner since around late June!! Something always comes up, something at church, or Jon's work, or just the craziness of life with toddlers! But she messaged me on Facebook Thursday evening to confirm, and I replied...I did reply, I swear it, I remember distinctly what I wrote and hitting reply, and feeling confident we were set, nothing was going to come up this time!!! Well Saturday is here, I made a cheesecake last night, and I made my meatballs for spaghetti and meatballs, YUM! 10 minutes to the time we had discussed Wednesday, I begin looking for my phone just in case they forgot which unit we were in. I find it in the depths of my purse...OFF. Uh-oh! I quickly plug it in and turn it on to find a message from my friend asking if we were on left at lunchtime!! I called her but didn't get through. I checked Facebook to discover my reply was not on the message she had sent me as it usually shows up! Luckily they hadn't made dinner yet or other plans and we did reach them, but what a crazy evening!! I don't know what I would've done if they hadn't come...I have a LOT of meatballs cooking for just us, even with leftovers!!
It was a great time of fellowship though as we ate dinner and watched the kids play. Well worth any 'drama' or confusion that may have come up if you ask me.

Six Word Saturday

WEEKEND WORK, WEEKEND OFF, PARTIAL WEEKEND.

This has been the pattern recently, IF I am lucky. Jon thought Thursday he would end up working this weekend, so I prepare myself mentally for no family time or help with the kids. :( Than he finds out Friday he WILL have the weekend off, YIPEE! I start to plan things I would like to do, try to see if anyone wants to get together. :) Within an hour though something new comes up and when he gets home (or I go pick him up), he breaks the bad news that he will be working for a little while part of the weekend! :/ I am very grateful he will at least be home for the majority of the weekend, though he was really upset that his only day to sleep in (Saturday, because Sunday we have church), he has to get up early to run in to work until about lunch time. Poor guy! I feel more frustrated and bad for him though, he had an awful and long work week- 18 hours Wednesday, 24 hours Thursday for duty, which continued into 13 hours for Friday before he finally got to come home! He is such a good husband, father and provider though and he works very hard to take care of his family! What a wonderful blessing he is to me!!

PLAYED CLEAN-UP CATCH-UP, THAN MESS-UP AGAIN! OR I CLEANED UP, THEY DESTROYED AGAIN!

Okay, so I had to add some hyphens to make it under 6 words, but it has a nice ring to it! I think its pretty self explanatory too. I basically spent most of my week cleaning up after last week's tornado passed through my home. I cleaned so much I felt like I was neglecting my blog because I barely had time to do a 'Wordless Wednesday' post! Though now things are a little calmer and I am ready to sit down and relax and write again, but alas once more a storm, though definitely smaller then the previous, has blown through my home! Ah, the joys of a homemaker! The chores never do have an end, do they?! You just have to wait until your kids are older and learn to delegate to the responsibilities out amongst them as you sit back and sip an ice tea! (Now there is something to dream about!)

GOING HOME, IF ONLY JEANS FIT!!

I will explain...Last month my sister who I am very close too announced she is getting married in November. Unfortunately it costs a small fortune to travel anywhere outside of Micronesia from here! Especially when I would need at least 2 tickets because the kids would have to accompany me. So with that I had finally come to terms that I wasn't going to be able to go, when my mom decided to help with the cost of the tickets so we could be there for my sister's special day! I am thrilled now that God has allowed this door to open, and even has made it possible for my husband to come with us for a 3 week trip (pending his leave approval- he definitely has the days available). We have yet to buy the tickets, but my mind has already wandered to what on earth we will wear while visiting!
As most of you know, we live on Guam, or in other words the island of year round summer. And we will be visiting Washington state in the middle and later half of November- when temperatures will be vastly different then our current wardrobe could handle. While there is no doubt I will need to borrow and buy some clothes for the kids to wear, Jon and I have some packed away. Only mine are from pre-Zachary. Though I magically shed the bulge after having my daughter 4 years ago- I was back in my normal jeans within a month- I was not quite as lucky after my 2nd baby. Zachary left his mark on me in the form of an unsightly tire around my waist I have unaffectionately named 'the blob'. I don't mind the extra weight so much as I can't stand this blob that hangs out of my jeans or pants if they are even minimally snug. So 'if only my old jeans would fit, I could save a little on what to buy for the trip, and boost my self-image in the process. So I need to crack down and get into a regular and challenging exercise routine, as well as, *gulp* give the sweets a rest! If you know me, the latter will be a huge challenge for my self control! I love to indulge in sweets!
Any tips or suggestions for losing the ring around my belly would be very appreciated! I have always been naturally slim, though not sticks like my sisters, so I have never faced this type of challenge before. Though I realize, especially after having two 9+ pound babies my hips will keep me from being completely down to the pre-baby me, but if I could just get rid of my 'mummy tummy' I would be thrilled!

NEED ANOTHER CAR TO GET SLEEP!

I am participating in 6 word Saturday this week....describe your week in 6 words!
To further explain mine in just a few more then 6 words: I need, and wish we could afford, a second car because driving Jon to work even occassionally leaves me quite exhausted and throws the kids sleep/nap routines off. I don't do it often for this reason, but I did on Friday morning this week because at the time we were under the impression Jon would be working through his duty day Friday on into Saturday afternoon. But fortunately (and a little unfortunately), Jon didn't have to work Saturday so I had to get the kids up early again in order to pick him up after his 24 hours on duty had ended! I was thrilled he was home, but since I never used the car Friday afternoon, I apparently didn't need to take him in at all! Of course only God knew that would happen, so it couldn't be helped. At least we all got naps this afternoon!
